An Introduction to my Master Copies
There is a long-standing tradition in art education of making copies of master artworks.
I do so regularly as a way to learn how to solve problems in every aspect of artmaking, from composition to the handling of colour and form in different lighting situations or with unfamiliar materials.
I’m also intrigued by the materials and methods adopted by the Old Masters. Making a careful study of their work gives me insights that I can apply to my own work in time.
