Figures

As with portraits, my tastes in figure paintings are traditional and my influences range from Caravaggio and Vermeer to Sargent and Rockwell.  I’m also intrigued by classical statues and figures carved in wood, as the examples here show. 

Forearms, hands, and fingers are especially tricky for figure painters (and for artificial intelligence engines that generate images too). There are so many small bones and muscle groups to draw and model convincingly.  I strive to get them right with every project.
